Designer Claire Pettibone rustled up the Old West during her Romantique collection’s Bridal Market 2016 presentation at one of the Industria Superstudio venues this past Friday. Hot off the hacienda, vintage lace looks perfect for an “I do” and that kiss were roped in by a prairie pioneer style, all topped off with bandit black by the way of cowboy Stetsons and Old Gringo Wedding Boots. For those either old enough to have lived through it or passionate about the vintage prom dress styles of the early ’70s, Pettibone’s beautiful Romantique gowns brought back fond memories of my favorite Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock dresses. But gussied up and ready to head down the aisle.
I especially loved the rhinestone-accented belts, one of the newest and coolest bridal trends I’ve been seeing lately. Customers are embracing this rhinestone sparkle addition to wedding gowns that accentuates the waist (just last weekend in San Diego my cousin Kat sported a beautiful blinged out version on her sexy strapless number). Pettibone went one step further and added black chiffon “aprons” that billowed out from back, providing a train and an attitude for that modern bride of today.
