New York Men’s Day – A/W2017 Part 2

Last week’s New York Men’s Day afternoon session had a lot to say. The looks were wearable, street savvy and creative, with a definite message to the medium — and to the political world at large. Wood House took a stab at a twisted nursery rhyme. By Robert James kept the Women’s March and protestation moving, while Private Policy went straight for the political jugular, with a racial mix of models, a “suit” of flags and words like “terrorist” temporarily tattooed on foreheads.

MensWearNetwork Gets Sweet at Maple NYC

What a way to welcome in the Autumn/Winter 2017 menswear season.

This past Tuesday night saw a wonderfully warm, intimate gathering at Maple NYC for the first MensWearNetwork event of 2017. Many dropped by after the MRKET / Vanguards Gallery show, among the other menswear market trade week shows of that day like Project and Liberty, and had quite positive things to say about the industry showcases, new fashions and crowds. Even in the nasty weather, many came to represent – designers, marketing execs, stylists, editors and the like. Really great to see, meet, re-greet the new, refreshing faces to the evening.

Looking forward to New York Men’s Day next week. Who’s ready for the gauntlet of wild fashions as the true style mavens walk this way?!

It May Be NYFW, But Don’t Forget About Menswear!

Bjorn Nasett, my fashion buddy (and general all-around great guy; you NEED to know him, too!) shared my menswear trend wrap up ideas with his Amazing Goodwill readers recently. As NYFW swings into full force this weekend, here’s a little wrap-up rewind of menswear love to balance out the women’s runway offerings!

His Men in Havana: Nick Graham’s SS17 Menswear Collection

Hey guys, cue the salsa music, shake a leg and get ready to cut a sisal rug for Spring Summer 2017 (or today, since it’s going to be HOT AS HELL again). At least you’ll have great fashion for it, considering last month’s NYFW:Men’s shows, in particular Nick Graham’s.

Haute Summer Cocktails: MensWearNetwork July 2016

It was the hottest day of the summer until the heavens opened up with a monsoon just as the MensWearNetwork group was set to descend upon The Lambs Club’s second floor bar at The Chatwal.

But the interior of The Club prevailed cool, serene and packed with just the right proportion of menswear industry members, including newcomers like menswear legend Alan Flusser, there for our July event to catch up after last week’s New York Men’s Day and NYFW:M menswear shows and this week’s Project, Capsule and MRket trade shows.MensWearNetwork July 2016

Mansformation Fall 2016 – Amazing Goodwill Article

It may be warming enough that guys are thinking more board shorts than bundling, but #FBF to that time last month that Amazing Goodwill’s Fashion Expert, my fashion buddy Bjorn Nasett, asked for my take on the trends of the NYFW:Men’s fall 2016 shows in one of his weekly columns.

Big warm WRAP SCARF fashion hugs, Bjorn! Thanks for the hook up!

Amazing Goodwill Man Style NYVW:M AW16

It’s A Wrap! The Main Trend at NYFW:M Autumn Winter 2016

It’s all about that wrap, as this past week’s menswear designers showing at New York Fashion Week: Men’s proved.

It seemed like NYFW:M’s saw a poncho, cloak, serape, mantelet, shawl or long, long, wide scarf draped ever-so-correctly around one’s shoulders at almost every collection. There was even a super model’s super hero cape, as in the case of the extended, destroyed Hero Hoodie the inimitable Tyson Beckford rocked front and center at designer Greg Lauren’s Autumn/Winter 2016 presentation at ArtBeam Studio Wednesday night.

Here, a Fashion Whirled recap.
