Let the Fall Shopping BEGIN! Workin’ on
the Love Gang, the cool new EV boutique

Yep. This happened.

Love Gang East Village

Not that I bought both of them, mind you. But the one at the top definitely found it’s way to my closet. Crafted from vintage leather motorcycle jackets, designed by Matiere de Reflexion, carried at the East 9th Street fashion shop, Love Gang NYC.

I LOVE the Love Gang,  the space initially devoted to Devorado, owner Carmen Ruiz’s former vintage style maven haven. Carmen, with shop partner Cara Bloch, ensures that Love Gang fashions and accessories here are cool and contemporary, with affordable prices. I went for a pair of Les Specs sunglasses, initially; then a tiny mouse top knuckle ring that had to be part of my ring repertoire. Added bonus at the shop? Luella, Cara’s adorable  Frenchie, who helps holds down the fort and functions as fashion guard dog and four-legged shop gal.

Make a date with the Love Gang. You will fall fast and hard.Love Gang East Village

East Village Out + About:
New Local Coffee Spot C&B Cafe

Owner chef Ali Sahin has the breakfast and lunch moves — and big personality with matching smile — to bring his newly-opened (last week!) East Village cafe home. C&B Cafe (which I’m pretty sure stands for Coffee & Breakfast…) at 178 East 7th Street, is thankfully, just down the block from me. Boom! Favorite new coffee place!

Loving this new local cafe, home to the pourover coffee and upscale egg sandwich. It’s got a great ambience, the nicest people working there and some raging delicious food. I’m always in search of a great hot chocolate and C&B seems to be in the top ten running (I cannot lie; Taralucci et Vino’s is my to-die-for, go-to fave). But I never say never when it comes to new spots, and on my first visit, I tried J.J.’s rendition with almond milk and this morning, Michael’s modification, another hot one that was pretty dang tasty. When I met Ali earlier in the week, he told me that he had trained at uptown Michelin-starred Daniel and Rouge Tomate, but that the vibe at his place was going to be much different, more laid back. His approach is working. Neighbor friend Daniel raves about the chicken and eggs breakfast and I can attest that Ali rules when it comes to a mean aged cheddar grilled cheese on brioche with carmelized onions. Still drooling when I think about it….

I highly recommend you check out C&B Cafe. And soon. Space is limited, what with its cute backroom communal table area and a few stools against the wall, so it’s great for take out, but stay and experience the ambience and the crew, too. Support local and become a respected regular before seats run out!
