A BOOK and PONY Show

An electric violinist serenaded us during the opening of Elene Cassis’ show of ladylike sheaths and dressed up pencil dresses, the last show of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.
And opera shared the runway with Joel Yapching’s BOOK Homme collection for Spring 2012 at XES Lounge in Chelsear.
Listen here, for a little operatic interlude:

WTB? Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora Rocks His Own Runway with Nikki Lund

The design duo walked the catwalk as their bow at the end of their Fall 2011 WTB by Richie Sambora and Nikki Lund show sponsored by Polaroid sunglasses. The collection rocked the house at the Metropolitan Pavilion, capping the Style 360 shows held there throughout the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that ended tonight.

Of course, leather and black were prerequisites, in all their permutations. My favorite? The sexiest, skinniest black leather cargo pants. Yumbly! Distress and glittered shearling jackets and a tight cut on trousers hit high notes, as did a ruffled and rouched chiffon and taffeta cape and backless silver mesh gown.

My prediction is that this collection, in its third season and gearing up to intro men’s wear next month in Nashville, of all places, is headed straight to the tops of the pops. If this collection were a song. And if retail was a Billboard Chart.

Pop Up Fashion Day at Audi Forum by Concept LA

Audi pulled up to the bumper yesterday during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Audi Forum on Park Avenue midtown served as co-sponsor and pop up runway venue Monday for four designers in from Los Angeles. The established and emerging artists, all part of the Concept LA Fashion Week, were co-steered by Mike Vensel, whose eponymous collection coasted the runway roster yesterday along with martinMartin, The Muskovites and Ela Acosta.

Venezuelan Acosta, one of the newest talents showcased at the car dealer’s venerable showroom, jump started the afternoon, driving home her focus on polyurethane materials. Note Latex-like leggings, far right, and recycled fabric looks like the garbage bag skirted gown, middle.

Yes. We heart this show and everything it stands for.
